These issues may be caused by a complex model or an unoptimized shader. But optimizing 3D assets for mobile devices can prove challenging because of the variety of mobile hardware and their differing capabilities and limitations. Artists and creators have to balance bringing their visions to life while working within the capabilities of mobile hardware.
We teamed up with our partner Arm to bring Unity creators a new intermediate-level Unity Learn course, 3D Art Optimization for Mobile Applications. Arm is the intellectual property (IP) semiconductor company behind the pervasive Arm Cortex® CPUs and Arm Mali™ GPUs.
We built this course to help technical artists and content creators deepen their understanding of how to produce performance-optimized 3D assets and scenes for mobile applications. With more than 8 hours of learning content, hands-on tutorials, and example files for you to explore, this course takes you through practical examples of 3D art optimization. You can choose to follow the course from start to finish or pick out specific topics that are relevant to you.
The course covers important fundamental topics in optimization and profiling. We cover geometry and how to make an application more efficient without sacrificing the artistry you want to achieve. You will learn how to compare the difference between available lights and light modes.
