Throughout the past year, we’ve loved seeing the tips you shared each week using the #UnityTips hashtag. We were also lucky enough to have a handful of developers take over our Unity for Games Twitter channel for a day, directly sharing expertise and insight with our community.

Keep reading for a selection of top tips from all five 2022 takeovers, featuring everything from visual effects (VFX) to general Editor advice designed to help you with future Unity engine projects.

January: Sarah of @TheSarahChimera

The first takeover of 2022 came from Twitter user @TheSarahChimera. With over 10 years of gamedev experience, Sarah is currently working as a solo dev on SKIN, a shapeshifting stealth game. Here are some tips she shared, with a focus on ScriptableObjects:

April: Alex Strook

For our second takeover, Alex Strook (@AlexStrook) had a lot of tips and tricks to share in April. June: Daniel Santalla

August: The Massive Monster team

To close out summer, the Massive Monster team – the studio behind the massively popular game Cult of the Lamb – took over. During their takeover, the team shared a handful of tips they used when developing Cult of the Lamb, mostly on 2D sprites. Here are a couple stand-outs:
